World Engineering Day SOET

Objectives: The School of Engineering & Technology, Adamas University celebrated World Engineering Day 2022 on 11.03.2022 from 04:00pm onwards. An initiative by SOET to celebrate The World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development (WED), an official International day proclaimed in 2019 by the United Nationals Educations, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The event was conducted with participation of Faculties, staff and students of SOET.

The event was of a total duration 1 Hrs, with the Opening program held over 20 mins followed by 10 mins presentation by the students. 25 mins for the Poster Competition and and 5 mins closing speech and thanksgiving. 

Abstract of proceedings:

Mrs. Soodipa Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, ME welcomed everyone to celebrate one of the most significant occasion, to celebrate engineering and the contribution of the world’s engineers for a better, sustainable world. The succeeding session by Prof. (Dr)Sujoy Bhattacharya, highlighted essential role of Engineers in development and human welfare. Ensuring that future generations of engineers and scientists he talked about how critical it is for the Engineers to be able to design solutions for local and global challenges.

Our chief guest for the day Prof. (Dr) Naveen Das, talked about how Engineering has been changing the world for millennia, and the new rapidly emerging technologies are an opportunity for positive transformation that leaves no one behind. He further mentioned that the world is still experiencing, on average, a shortage of engineers in all domains. Innovation in engineering is necessary to better adapt and address today’s global challenges and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Dr T. Senthil Vadivel mentioned ‘Engineering is essential for economic advancement and for the implementation of new technologies and the application of science, including for basic needs of food, health, housing, roads and transport, water, energy and management of the planet’s resources.’ The program was enriched with a presentation on Sustainable Engineering by Raghunath Mullick, UG 3rd Year, B.Tech ME and Aditi Mitra, UG 3rd Year, B.Tech CSE. It was followed by the poster presentation on the theme Build back Wiser.
